Each week, hundreds of people die prematurely, and thousands are diagnosed with preventable, life-altering complications linked to diabetes. The NHS allocates approximately £11 billion annually—equivalent to 6% of the UK health budget—to diabetes care. Nearly £8 billion of this is spent managing complications such as heart disease, kidney problems, and nerve damage. Research suggests that by 2035, the cost of diabetes to the NHS could rise to nearly £18 billion.^4,5
