The dose indicator will count down by 1 each time a puff of medicine is sprayed
Patient should not try to take a dose when the pointer is at 0 because patient will not receive a full dose.
Please note:
Patient should not reuse or use the actuator with medicine canisters from other inhalers.
Patient should not use TRIXEO canister with an actuator from any other inhaler.
Patient should not break, puncture, expose to high temperatures (above 50˚C) or burn the pressurised container or let it get wet.
Patient should not use the inhaler if the drying agent has leaked out of its packet.
Before inhaler is used for the first time, it requires priming so that the right amount of medicine dispenses when used.
Priming step 1: Mouthpiece cover should be removed.
Priming step 2: The inhaler should be shaken well and 1 Test-puff sprayed into the air facing away from patient. This should be repeated for a total of 4 Test-puffs, shaking before each Test-puff.
Extra puffs are provided for priming. Priming should not be skipped
Repriming inhaler
The inhaler should be reprimed:
To re-prime, 2 Test-puffs should be sprayed after shaking before each Test-puff
DAILY USE, morning & evening – Inhale medicine
Usage step 1 Mouthpiece cover should be removed. The mouthpiece should be checked for foreign objects and objects removed before use.
Usage step 2 Inhaler should be shaken well before each puff. Patient should breathe out fully. Place mouthpiece into their mouth and close lips around the mouthpiece. Then tilt their head back, keeping their tongue below the mouthpiece. Patient should start to breathe in deeply and slowly while spraying 1 puff. Patient should continue breathing in until they cannot any more. They should then hold their breath for as long as they can, up to 10 seconds.
Usage step 3 Repeating step 2 for a second puff.
Usage step 4 Putting mouthpiece cover back on.
Usage step 5 Patient should rinse mouth with water and then spit water out. Patient should not swallow.
WEEKLY RINSE – Actuator should be rinsed once a week
Rinse 1 Remove canister and set aside. Do not allow the canister to get wet.
Rinse 2 Remove mouthpiece cover.
Rinse 3 Warm water should be run through the mouthpiece for 30 seconds and then through the top of the actuator for 30 seconds.
Rinse for 60 seconds in total.
Rinse 4 Water should be shaken off as much as possible. Do not dry with a towel or tissue.
Rinse 5 The actuator and mouthpiece should be visually inspected for medicine build-up. If there is any build-up, steps Rinse 3 through 5 should be repeated.
Rinse 6 Air-dry, preferably overnight. Canister should not be put back into the actuator if it is still wet.
Rinse 7 When dry, replace the mouthpiece cover first and then gently press the canister down into the actuator.
Rinse 8 Re-prime the inhaler by spraying 2 Test-puffs, shaking before each Test-puff.
Recommended and maximum daily dose: 2 puffs in the morning and 2 puffs in the evening
Medicines should not be thrown away via wastewater or household waste. Advise your patients to ask a pharmacist on how to throw away medicines that they no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment.
Some patients may find it difficult breathing in and pressing the inhaler at the same time. If this happens, it may help for your patients to use a ‘spacer’ with their inhaler.
